11 Affirmations for Your Child or Student

Mindfulness isn’t just for adults.

Children are juggling academics, homework, extracurricular activities, friends and friendship dramas, and the endless cycle of social media. All of these experiences can lead to anxiety or burnout. It can be challenging for children to perform their best and focus during school.

These various pressures also add to a child’s emotional load. Mindfulness is one valuable tool that can help children navigate these challenges.

I use mindfulness with my students in school and at the clinic daily. I start every session by asking the children about their day and what positives and challenges happened. It’s important to validate and support their feelings by showing interest in their lives.

Mindfulness can improve emotional regulation, support a student’s mental health, enhance a student’s creativity and problem-solving, and improve relationships.

Here are 11 affirmations I use during my speech sessions:

  1. I am capable.

  2. I believe in myself and my abilities.

  3. I can overcome challenges.

  4. I embrace mistakes as opportunities to learn and grow.

  5. I am open to new ideas and experiences.

  6. I am in control of my stress and emotions.

  7. I can stay calm under pressure.

  8. I am grateful for the opportunities in my life.

  9. I am worthy of love and healthy friendships.

  10. I prioritize my mind, body, and soul.

  11. I am a lifelong learner.

Try customizing these affirmations and repeat them as needed to encourage a positive mindset and personal growth.
